bicycle accident...

I haven't posted in two weeks...which isn't normal for me. Britt flew over the front of her bicycle this past weekend and broke her collar bone, so she is home. She has a staple in her head and a lot of bruises on her face and body...she wasn't wearing her helmet. She is so lucky that she's not in worse shape. Please wear a helmet if you ride a bike!!!

happy 21st birthday!!!

I can't believe Kris is 21 years old today! I took this picture this past weekend while we were out shopping...I love to take pictures of the girls with different hats on to paint someday.

leg warmers

I finished these leg warmers for Britt a few weeks ago...I finally took a picture of them while she was home for Thanksgiving. I'm almost finished with a purple pair for Kris. I also finished a gray cowl for Britt, but I forgot to take a picture of it before she left. I'm starting a cream colored one for Kris. They are constantly wanting me to knit them something...I told them "I'm not a knitting machine!"lol

explore...

I have been posting all my art work on my flickr, but if one happens to be chosen by Explore, I post it here too. I had a lot of fun drawing and painting this portrait. Ink and watercolors.

25K...15.5 miles...

Britt and Kris ran in a 25K race this morning in Houston. It was soooo cold! Kris had a little problem at the end with her breathing...she's doing fine now...just a little knee pain. Britt finished 7th and Kris finished 8th in their age group.

cowl and fingerless mittens

I cast on this bulky cowl Friday night and finished it last night...a very quick and easy knit. The pattern can be found here. I used Spud & Chloe's Outer in Bayoo and Soapstone. This cowl knitted up quickly on size 13 needles. I started the fingerless mittens last week and finished them one night this week. I used Spud & Chloe's Sweater yarn. I know it's not a good picture...bad lighting and it's hard for me to take a picture of myself.

half marathon...

Warming up.
About a mile into the race...still dark outside.
The finish line was just around the corner.

Britt & Kris ran their first half marathon this morning in downtown Houston. There were 74 females in their age group...they placed 8th and 9th. Whoop!

2 week old red broilers...

Some of these chicks are almost completely feathered out, but then a couple of them hardly have any feathers. They look so different from the Cornish Cross we raised before. Every time I go in the chick house, they run to a corner.

one week old...

The chicks are one week old today...look how much they have grown and they have feathers on their wings. They are sooo cute!

finished!

Last night I finished knitting my grape jelly sweater...now if it would just get cold enough to wear it!

this years meat birds

I decided to raise red broilers this year for our meat birds. Usually we raise cornish cross, but they are so lazy and have very little personality. I thought I was going to lose one this morning...he was so lethargic and wouldn't eat or drink. I was going to put him out of his misery, but couldn't do it (yes, I know I'm a wimp) and now I'm glad I didn't. He is doing much better.

the babies on ring day

All the dogs stayed at Britt's house with Allison, while we went on campus for ring day.

Kristie's ring day!

We drove to College Station yesterday for Kristie's ring day. Brittany presented it to her, since she is an Aggie and already has her ring. Kyle (Kristie's boyfriend) and Riley were there too. I'll post more pictures later...

malabar spinach

This stuff grows about a foot a day and loves the heat! I love the color of the stem...it reminds me of eggplant.
