almost finished

Here's an update after adding layers of paint the past two days...I think I'll be finished with it Friday. This isn't a good picture...I tried all different places inside the house and outside to get a good shot...sometimes a camera just can't capture the real thing.

waiting for autumn...in the meantime

This is what's on my easel...it's 20x16 gallery wrapped canvas...I'm painting it for Britt's room...I'm going to call it "Autumn Path". The white splotches are more texture...I hope to finish it this week.
I haven't sketched in awhile, so i decided to sketch my smoothie this morning.
This is a piece of sheet metal that DH is going to make a table out of...for outside. It was delivered Friday afternoon, but I didn't take a look at it until Saturday morning. I immediately saw an abstract design on it...I told DH and he looked at me like I was crazy!
I finished one of the loopy lace socks and started it's mate this weekend.
These are cheese muffins I baked yesterday...the recipe is from the pioneer woman's blog...they remind me of the rolls at Red Lobster.

random thursday

Tuesday, K and I ate lunch at Charleston tea room...we have eaten there once a week all summer. I moved her back to CS yesterday.
Sunday, DH and I bought 3 satsuma and 2 grapefruit trees...I can't wait for the satsumas to turn orange...they are my favorite!
We had an unexpected visitor this past weekend...I decided to take his picture before DH showed him the door.
We have so many different kinds of mushrooms growing in our yard...I thought this one looks like a fan.
A downpour...we have had a lot of rain this week...Woo-Hoo!

first pair

Another type of art...I used 4 pieces of 4 inch sterling silver wire to make these earrings...I used my torch to create the head pins and them did wire wrapping to make the knots. B was home for a few days and liked them so much, she took them back to CS with her.

random tuesday

Dragonfly sitting on a tomato leaf.
8x8 abstract painting for K...she loves abstract. I'm going to paint a larger version for her room in CS.
I was out walking Buckles and found this hole in the bottom of one of our many trees...I had K come outside to look...she wanted me to stick my hand in there...I told her your CRAZY! I have no idea what is living in there and have no desire to find out.
I love this vibrant orange color!
I was outside filling my torch with butane and saw this praying mantis on the table...I think their heads are interesting. DH took the picture for me.

an angel

He spake well who said that graves are the footprints of angels. ~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Yesterday, DH and I attended a funeral for a man that he has known for at least 30 years...I knew him, but not like DH did. A very sad day...Jim was 65 years old and had been fighting leukemia for at least 10 years. Honestly, I don't know that I have the mental strength to endure what he went through. I saw this angel in the cemetery when we first arrived, but I didn't take a picture of it until today. I took K with me and she thought it was a little creepy being in a cemetery...I think it's just her age.
