feels like spring!

I think we finally got enough "chill hours" this Winter for the peach trees...they are finally blooming this year! It's been several years since we have seen any blooms on these trees. DH and I went to a fruit tree seminar about a month ago and learned that fruit trees in our area need to get anywhere from 200 to 500 chill hours each year, so we are only buying trees that need around 200 hours...we think it's rare for our area to get 500 chill hours a year.

page of edm sketches

Have you ever looked in a mirror and tried to sketch yourself? Well, I tried it this week and it's not easy...it looks nothing like me, but then again, it's just a sketch.

wip

I started this mara shawl Saturday night and have worked on in every night...here's a picture of it after 73 rows. I think this is the easiest shawl to knit...it's a great pattern for a beginner.

Pattern: mara shawl

sketchbook

I saw a picture of this man on Flickr...a lot of people were sketching it, so I decided to give it a whirl. He was standing outside the gates of the White House...hoping for a hot cup of coffee with Obama. lol I used a pentel pocket brush pen in my fabriano venezia small sketchbook.

stop taking pictures!

Buckles loves the fireplace...most of the time he sits in front of it, but last night, he decided to lay on the ottoman with his toy.

sketchbook

I finally picked up my sketchbook this week and did a few sketches. I looked at the EDM list for inspiration and saw #261 draw a winter olympic event, so I sketched downhill racing...one of my favorite events. I know this sounds terrible, but I like when they crash and get up and walk away without a scratch, except for Lindsey Vonn, she broke a finger. These are not good scans, but I just didn't feel like messing with them... I need to get back to knitting. I'm planning on finishing Abby's sweater tonight or tomorrow and then I'm starting this shawl.
