#10 study...

This study is inspired by the book that I'm reading called Wench.  I'm hoping to paint a larger version.

the boys...

Chance refuses to have anything to do with Cooper...he's a grumpy old man in a dogs body.
Buckles and Cooper are "bonding"...they are both laying on the pillow under my desk.
Don't ask me why, but Sunday DH started a fire...Buckles loves to lay in front of the fireplace...he was toasty.  Notice the burn holes in the carpet...thanks to DH.
Cooper was snuggled up on a quilt in my favorite chair taking a nap.

cooper or is it trouble...

"Iz a dood boy!"...yea right!  Sometimes I think we should have named him TROUBLE...it's not too late.
This is about the only time he's not in trouble...he is just too precious when he is sleeping!

estate sale....

Last week I went to an estate sale in Woodcreek...I bought this nasty, smelly dirty frame for a buck...it was so dirty that I took the garden hose and sprayer to it.
And now it looks like this...I love color...I'm not sure what I'm going to put in it...yet.

a few steps...

I thought I would post how I start a painting...even tho this one went in the trash.  Here's my pochade box sitting on the island in my kitchen...with the still life I attempted to paint.  In the bottom left hand corner is a purple disposable glove...I always wear a glove on my left hand to help keep my hand clean that is holding my paper towel/napkin.  I have started saving the paper napkins that I don't use when I go to a restaurant...no since in throwing them away unused...that is such a waste.
This is a view finder...it helps me to determine my composition....it is especially useful when I go outside to paint and there is so much around me.
This little hole is for isolating color...I close one eye and look thru the hole to help determine the correct color, temperature (warm or cool) and value...it's a great tool.
The only thing I liked about this painting is the color my water was after I attempted to paint these lemons...it's a nice shade of turquoise...I actually didn't want to pour it out!

such a sweetheart...

This little guy is exhausting...he's laying in a pile of cloths on the laundry room floor, while I was doing laundry today...at least it kept him out of trouble.

cooper and #9 painting

Cooper is playing with his new owl toy...his teeth are razor sharp!
It's hard to find time to paint with a puppy in the house...I painted this 5x5 yesterday afternoon...spent about 30 minutes on it.  I started a block in this afternoon of lemons in a turquoise container that recently had mushrooms in it...I was washing out the container Sunday and DH asked me "what the heck I was doing?"...I am always looking for a way to incorporate food and containers in a painting.

first visit...

Cooper went to the vet this morning...I took this picture in the car with my crappy cell phone...I can't wait to get an Iphone.

Cooper has everyone wrapped around his little paw already...that is a human.
Kris knitting with Buckles, Abby and Cooper...Chance didn't want to have anything to do with them.
Abby modeling my finished headwrap...she decided to wear it as a scarf.

no. 8 small painting

This is my 8th small painting so far this year.  4x4 acrylic

meet cooper...

We went to Wabash to buy plants, seeds and other things for the garden this morning...not only did we buy things for the garden, we came home with Cooper...he is a ShiPoo and is soooooo sweet!
This is my daddy...you can't sit in his lap!  Buckles is a little jealous of Cooper.
Ugh!!!! What is that?!  Chance is not very happy about our new addition to the family.

cigar pochade box...made for less than $8.00

I bought this cigar box a few years ago at a tobacco store for 5 bucks.
I hot glued wine corks in the corners to support my removable palette.
This is what the hinge looks like after I attached it to the box...works perfect.
I'm able to carry everything I need in the bottom of the box...except my water container.
DH cut the removable palette for me out of an old piece of plexiglass I don't use anymore.
I can carry this box anywhere...I can use it in my lap in the car...here I have set it on our kitchen table....I plan on painting the tulips in the background.  Oh, I will be using a piece of disposable palette paper or freezer paper cut to size on the plexiglass...I hate clean to clean up.  One more thing, the piece of orange tinted watercolor paper is 6x6.

On my needles...pattern is from Ravelry...it is a Anthropologie inspired headwrap...I'm using size 10 needles and Blue Sky Alpacas 100% worsted cotton...the color is aloe.  The pattern calls for a bulky yarn and size 13 needles, but I didn't want it that bulky.

Is this a pear or a satsuma?  It's a satsuma that was growing on one of our trees...for the longest time, I thought it was a green pear, until it started changing colors.  5x5 acrylic on paper

I ordered a few square matted frames from Pottery Barn...this is one of my 4x4 acrylic paintings.

While "Spring Cleaning"...I found this quilt top that I haven't quilted, so I bought batting at Hobby Lobby today and this is on my "to do list"...hopefully, I'll be sitting under it before it gets hot again.

Yesterday, while at my Dad's I found this ugly table that he isn't using and decided that it needed a few coats of paint...

After one coat of Behr Premium Plus Ultra...the color is called Clear Pond...it's kind of an aqua color.

I started painting it today...it needs one more coat of  paint...I have decided that it will work perfectly sitting by my claw foot tube with a few vintage items that I have and bath paraphernalia sitting on it.  Phew...I'm tired!

before the holidays

I forgot that I had painted this small persimmon before Christmas...I can't find any decent ones in the grocery store now. 4x4 acrylic on wc paper

taco chili salad

This was my lunch today...the lettuce is from our garden...I made the chili from scratch on Tuesday.  I have been using the same recipe for over 27 years.  I have tried different recipes, but always go back to this one.

hat and scarf

I finished knitting this hat last night...I used blue sky alpacas organic cotton in the color drift.  I finished the infinity scarf before Christmas....the yarn is madelinetosh...color mourning dove.  It's cold and windy today, so this was a perfect day to cover up and take a picture.

5/100...wonky bottle

You have to look closely to pick up the colors in clear glass...this was definitely a challenge.
6x4 acrylic on watercolor paper.  I use 300 lb. watercolor paper...it is thick and doesn't buckle.

busy worker...

When I was out in the garden, I noticed all these bees working in the broccoli flowers...they didn't seem to care that I was standing so close to them.

4/100...on it's last leg

This persimmon is in bad shape, so I decided to paint it one last time.  5x5 acrylic on 300# gessoed watercolor paper.
