This morning I was standing in front of the kitchen window when all of a sudden I hear loud noises from the hen and chick house, so I go out to the hen house first and what do I find 2 reds screaming at each other because they both want the same box! There are 10 boxes in that house...there is no excuse for all the "bitching" that was going on! I dragged the first red out of the box and told her to pick another one! We moved Penelope and the 8 fertile eggs (that have survived living with the reds) to the chick house...along with Mildred, who still has Bumblefoot, but if Mildred can't behave herself, she is going back in the crate on the patio! What a morning!

faceless rabbit
I finished knitting this rabbit over 2 weeks ago, but just haven't felt like adding the facial features...one of these days I'll get around to it. For now, it sits in the window seat...in the girls room...on a quilt that I had made for Britt when she had a twin bed.
I used Spud & Chloe sweater yarn. Color is ice cream.
The pattern is in this book.

bumblefoot...
We have a broody hen (Penelope), a molting hen (Petunia) and now Mildred has a hurt foot! DH and I soaked her foot in warm water and epson salt for about 30 minutes, then we pulled this hard scab off and this huge "plug" of puss came out...gross! We cleaned it with hydrogen peroxide, then applied neosporin and dressed it with gauze. We have to redress it everyday until it heals. She is staying in a cage on the patio for now, but is running around in the backyard with DH as I write this post. What is next?!

one happy hen...
unless you try and take her eggs she is sitting on! Penelope has been broody for over a month now...she is obsessed with being a Mother! Yesterday, Kris brought home some fertile eggs from A&M's poultry science department. It takes around 21 days for an egg to hatch, so that should be sometime around the 5th of August...I can't wait to see how many eggs actually hatch...she is sitting on 12.

new hat model
I have a new model for my baby hats. This baby doll was one of my Mom's...you wouldn't believe all the dolls my Mother had! About a month ago, I selected this doll from a bedroom that is still full of my Mom's dolls.
I knitted this hat from leftover yarn...Blue Sky Alpacas organic cotton...color Azul.
