DH and I went to this nursery Saturday...it's in Richmond. We went there to learn more about growing strawberries. I've never seen a nursery like this one. There were "farm like" buildings all around it and they even had a live band.

off the needles
I finished the Hanna hat Friday night. The 3 pieces have been knitted for over a month, I just wasn't motivated to whip stitch them together, so Friday, I decided it was time to finally finish it. Kris loves it! I've been wanting to cast on for a sweater, but I told myself that I had to finish the mara shawl...finished it Saturday night. I started a neck down sweater last night...I'll post WIP pics in a few days.

I'm still working on my mara shawl. I had planned on finishing it by today, but then I got distracted by another project. I decided to start knitting squares for a Barn-Raising Quilt, out of leftover sock yarn. I found the pattern in this book.
I started a flickr photostream a couple of weeks ago and have been trying to post pictures there once a day. The flickr badge is off to the right on my blog...just click "what is this?" and then aggiemomtoo

feels like spring!
I think we finally got enough "chill hours" this Winter for the peach trees...they are finally blooming this year! It's been several years since we have seen any blooms on these trees. DH and I went to a fruit tree seminar about a month ago and learned that fruit trees in our area need to get anywhere from 200 to 500 chill hours each year, so we are only buying trees that need around 200 hours...we think it's rare for our area to get 500 chill hours a year.

wip
I started this mara shawl Saturday night and have worked on in every night...here's a picture of it after 73 rows. I think this is the easiest shawl to knit...it's a great pattern for a beginner.
Pattern: mara shawl
