Buckles is the latest addition to our family...he just came to live with us today!!!! He is only 8 weeks old and is the cutest...that is next to Chance!!!!!

I drew this for this weeks Illustration Friday. DH was on a plane returning from Canada last night when I was playing around with this witch.

hmm...what to draw?

Last night I climbed into to bed and remembered I hadn't sketched anything today, so I started looking around the room for something to sketch and this is what grabbed my attention...I don't think I need to explain what they are!

what's next?!

I went to HEB yesterday and pulled into the parking lot and couldn't figure out why there were so many open parking spaces at the beginning of every row, so I parked and started walking toward the store and saw these signs! I was so stunned that I got my small camera out and took a picture...jeez...what is next? Has anyone seen these signs before?

I sketched my profile from a picture DH took of me...boy, do I need a neck and chin job...or maybe I could wear a chin strap. lol I do recall seeing an old Joan Crawford movie and she was wearing one at night...or maybe that was in Mommy Dearest...hmmm...

Meet Meea...she is a cartoon character that I have created...right now, she's just a pencil sketch in my red sketchbook...I'm hoping to do a little experimenting in photo shop to add color to her, but first I have to seal the grout in the shower :( ... stay tuned.

This post is for Janet...this picture was taken last November on Bolivar at the beach. The best thing about Francine is that she doesn't have any carpet and is easy to clean.

There is a website called "Illustration Friday"...every Friday a new word is posted and your suppose to create an illustration for that word. This was fun...both my daughters think their boobs are too small. lol

We went to the new Pro Bass Shop at 288 and the beltway yesterday...it's huge! Felt a need to take a picture of DH and this bear...terrible lighting and I didn't have my flash on...oh well...you get the picture.

I quickly sketched this before Chance and I went on our morning walk...it feels great outside!

I know your wondering why I would sketch this lady...well...I was named after her...my Mom loved her movies! She died October 16...this past Tuesday...she was 86 years old. I remember her in the movies An Affair to Remember and Heaven Knows, Mr. Allison.

I watched a few of Hillary's You Tube videos yesterday and was annoyed by the BS this women is telling the American people! I would never vote for her, but she did have a good profile shot in one of the videos...so I grabbed a #2 pencil and did a quick sketch in my red sketchbook.

I just found out last night...I'm going to be a great aunt!!! Hmmm...that kind of makes me feel old! lol Britt and Kris have already volunteered their babysitting services and Britt thinks it's going to be an aggie! lol

I know this doesn't look like Al Gore, but I just had to draw a cartoon character of him from a picture I saw in the newspaper last week...he looked like he had chipmunk cheeks. This was fun to draw and color with chartpak ad markers.

I sketched this empty box of waffles in pen and then added some markers...the markers bled on the letters...this is in my 4x6 red sketchbook.

It seems to take so long to pump gas these days, so I decided to get out my sketchbook and doodle while filling up yesterday...added some color with colored pencils when I got home.

I saw this picture of an aggie who is 95 years old in the battalion yesterday...he has on a twill hat and I thought he looked cute, so I did a quick doodle of him in my red sketchbook. He still has that aggie spirit!

Now back to the tile saw!

hand sketches

Just a couple of sketches of my left hand...I used a 6B pencil in my Daler Rowney sketchbook. I'm hoping to get outside soon and paint some oil studies...we are starting the tile work in the shower today, so maybe next week...it feels amazing outside!

morning walk

I picked this leaf up on our walk yesterday morning...I'm trying to learn how to draw hands and feet. My hand is a little wonky...I added colored pencils to the leaf and my ring.

couple from last week

We ate at Texas Roadhouse Friday...I ate a half of a slab of baby back ribs, mashed potatoes with cream gravy and a salad...YUM! I was on my last rib when our waitress approached our table with another half of a slab...she thought my ribs didn't look good, so I brought those home. I wasn't going to sketch anything while there, but this couple was sitting in a perfect location, so I did a quick sketch.


I was cleaning the garage up some and saw this shoe of Walter's, so I decided to sketch it.

Update on our bathroom...we will start tiling the shower this weekend...we had to totally redo the floor in the shower...what a mess!!

Today is Chance's 3rd birthday in dog years...that's 21 in people years...that makes him legal! lol

I did this quick cartoon sketch of him and used colored pencils...not happy with the results...oh, well.

23 years

Today is our anniversary...we have been married 23 years.

quickie of chance

I quickly sketched this of Chance last night while we were watching House Hunters on HGTV. The paper is terrible for pen use and the pen I was using was running out of ink, but I did capture how he was laying...his front left paw was not visible.

I have started a portrait drawing of him...it will take me weeks to finish...right now I don't have much time for anything but quick 5 or 10 minute sketches...our bathroom is a mess...we took out the shower last weekend and Walter is taking off Friday, Monday and Tuesday, so we have 5 days to work on our bathroom...good thing we have other bathrooms in this house!

One of the items on WC's scavenger hunt this week is drawing your reflection, so I gave it a go...it looks nothing like me and was hard holding the compact and drawing at the same time. I think it looked better without the colored pencils and shading...I should have just left it as a line drawing.

I found this bottle of wine at Target last week and had to buy it...after all it's name is KRIS! The label on the bottle really caught my attention...if my Kris had to design a label, it would probably look something like this. lol The winemakers site is

I'm always looking for unique "things" to draw when I shop...I also bought a wine called Barefoot...I sure hope it doesn't taste like feet!

Yesterday, I was too busy to eat lunch at Panera's, so I took it home and sketched the brown paper bag it came in while wolfing down my sandwich.

This panera doodle is from last week...I keep my sketchbook under the table and sketch on my lap, so it's not obvious what I'm doing...people watching is fun...you can tell there's a story behind every face!
