an addiction of mine

Yes, I'm addicted to Dr. Peppers! I'm trying to cut back, but it's hard. Most people after they exercise want water...not me...give me a Dr. Pepper! lol I sketched an unopened room temperature can, so I wouldn't be tempted to open it.

This was the first time I have tried anything from kashi foods...I ate it all except the milk...I hate milk! It doesn't come with the banana and blueberries...I added those to it.

Not a good scan...I need to stop sketching and writing so close to the books binding.

grandparents

These are my mother's parents...this picture was taken Christmas 1955 in Blooming Grove, Texas...her name was Gladys Bell Ewing and she was 38 years old when this picture was taken...his name is Silvester Leroy Ewing...he went by Leroy...he was 42 years old. My grandmother out lived him by 23 years...she just passed away in June.

This was a little more emotional for me than I thought it would be...I guess it's because my grandmother just passed away a few months ago. I've decided to post a weekly photo from our family tree that Britt, Kris and I put together about 7 years ago...my youngest sister had requested copies of the photos from our family tree when I couldn't use my right hand and I just haven't gotten around to it, so Peggy you can take them from my blog...if you like.

profile sketches

I decided to work on profiles, so I took pictures of Britt & Kris this weekend when they were home. I'm not happy with either one of these, but I'm posting them anyways...it's my first time to sketch profiles, so I feel like I can only improve with practice...that's the one thing about drawing...you have to practice, practice, practice. If your wondering why I crosshatched around Kris's face, it's because I forgot to scan it before I went to Panera Bread and I doodled on the other side and I wanted to show a clean facial line. Kris is going to take one look at this and think that she needs a "nose job"...she already thinks that! Her nose is not that pointy and besides it's only a sketch.

tub

This is a picture of the claw foot tub we will be putting in our bathroom...we gave the old garden tub to Habitat For Humanity. I have wanted a tub like this since I was a little girl...my grandparents had one in a house they rented when I was around 6 or 7 years old...I was so disappointed when they moved from that house.

red sketchbook doodles

I bought this sketchbook in July...just now starting to use it...the good thing is it has over 200 pages that I can doodle on! Below are some of my doodles from the past couple of days.

Walter brought this bag of chocolate coated cashews back from Canada last week.

I started out eating something good for breakfast, but by mid morning I was eating Funyuns. I added color with watercolor pencils...without the water.

I always clean out our bookshelves at least once a year and take those I know we won't be reading anymore to a used bookstore to sell.

I love Funyuns! I only buy the lunch size bags, so I only eat a small portion...if I had a large bag, I would probably eat the whole thing in one sitting...not a good thing! added watercolor pencils.

Britt & Kris were home this weekend...they painted their potts (hats) for bonfire. As I post this, they are out helping cut down trees for the annual bonfire that Aggies build before the Longhorn game....which is the day after Thanksgiving. Don't they look mean?

happy birthday!!!

I sketched this can of beer yesterday while I was cooking chili...I always use beer in my chili...and since today is my nephews birthday, I thought this would be a good sketch to post.

I took my moleskine, pen, waterbrush and watercolors outside today. We have had very low humidity...it's still reaching the 90's everyday, but with lower humidity it's nice. Chance was running around chasing and barking at the squirrels while I did this quick study of a small branch of leaves.

I used a black fountain pen to draw this bell and then applied water with a waterbrush...as you can see, it got a little too wet in some areas. I saw this technique on another blog and just wanted to try it.
