tri girls

Britt and her friend Liz came home this weekend to participate in Pearland's Triathlon. Liz came in first in their age group and Britt placed second...both did great! I love the zebra suits...it's so easy to spot them!

a week old...

I can't believe how fast they have grown in a week! They have feathers and their eyes are open.

2nd chemo hat

I used Blue Sky Alpacas worsted organic cotton...this yarn is super soft.
The color is Azul and I used size 10 circular needles. I've started a lavender color hat using this yarn.

broody hen

Pennelope has been broody for almost 2 weeks now. This weekend I put her in this wire crate to try to get her to "snap out" of it. I only left her in there 2 days...I hate to crate any of the chickens, unless they are sick. We put her back in the hen house Sunday night...the crating didn't help. She is still camping out in an egg box. This morning I put a bag of frozen peas underneath her, hoping that if I can bring down her body temperature, she'll start acting normal again...instead of moody. I go out there every few hours and physically lift her out of the box...she thinks I'm suck a bitch when I do this, but if I don't, she won't eat or drink. If the peas don't help, I'm going to put her back in the crate directly on the wire and raise the crate 3 feet above the ground and put a pan of ice underneath the crate for a few days...she'll be so uncomfortable...she'll snap out of it then! This could go on all summer long, if I don't attempt to get her back to normal. Our summers are too hot to let her stay broody all summer. Any suggestions?

are you my mother?

A few of the eggs hatched last night in the shoe! I was so excited...they are sooooo tiny! Everytime I peak in the shoe at least one of them will open it's mouth...I think it thinks I'm his/her mother! lol

visitor

I looked out the front door this morning and saw this bird looking around, so I grabbed my camera and took a shot out the glass door.

I've been repainting the inside of our house, so I probably will only post once a week for awhile. I'll still post any sketches on my flickr. I've joined a flickr group called Julia Kay's Portrait Party.

not just for running...

No the girls didn't lay these eggs...a finch laid these in an old pair of DH's running shoes in the garage. At night we make sure she is sitting on them before we close the garage doors for the night. I sure hope they hatch!
